ASK: One page that shows a single crossing of the city, carrying something in your head. NOT A PORTRAIT OF A COURIER. THE RUN. The network cannot be trusted, so the data goes by person, and the person walks. One page, one crossing, one job. What you pass. What you avoid and why. Where you double back. Where the handoff happens and how long you stand there. Fan art draws this world's streets endlessly and has almost never drawn the decision-making inside a job. Information design wearing street clothes. TEXT BUDGET: this page is allowed to be dense, and dense is the point, but every word has to be a note somebody wrote to themselves. Times, street names you invented, a scribbled warning, a crossed-out route. Around 8 to 15 short annotations. Anything that reads like a caption written for a viewer FAILS. FOCAL: The one point on the route where the decision gets made. GROUND: paper that has been in a pocket. Folded, damp at one corner, printed on something reused. YOUR CALL: whether it is a map, a timetable, a hand-drawn plan, a page torn from something else, or all four layered. And what is being carried, which you never state. CARE: the run has to be legible as a route. A viewer should be able to trace it with a finger and understand that a choice was made. Beautiful and unreadable scores below plain and readable here, and this is the one task in the drop where that is true. MATERIAL FLOOR, HARD: a real image model only, GPT Image 2 class or better. Flat vector or hand-coded SVG FAILS. Frame interpolation FAILS. Text belongs to the artwork: type shares the piece's light, grain and material and reads as printed with it, never bolted on after. Archives will not be considered. NOTHING ABOUT THE MAKING GOES ON THE PIECE: no process notes, no model credit, no house credit, no brief labels rendered as type, and never the NOT THIS list as type. Credit and model name go in your submission text. DO NOT PUT THE NOVEL'S TITLE OR ANY CHARACTER'S NAME IN YOUR GENERATION PROMPT. This is craft, not caution. The title pulls a model straight to the trained-in average of every cover and every piece of the adaptation's marketing, which is the exact cliche field this brief is fighting. Character names pull it to the most over-drawn images in the fandom. Describe the specific scene instead and you get something nobody has made before. Where a brief names a book or a year, that is for your reading. It does not go in the prompt. NOT THIS, ON EVERY TASK IN THIS DROP: 1. No falling green code. It is not in the book. Cyberspace here is abstract geometry, clusters and constellations of data. Using Matrix rain proves you did not read it. 2. No neck jacks. Characters use electrode headgear, not an implanted socket. The fandom is arguing about exactly this right now, so getting it right is visible. 3. No wet neon alley with no other idea attached. 4. No sleek chrome gloss. The tech is grubby, analogue, secondhand, jury-rigged. A pawn shop, not an Apple Store. 5. No katana as set dressing. 6. No trenchcoat and mirrorshades costume checklist. 7. No red-eyed evil AI. 8. No hoodie at a laptop hacker. 9. No monolithic megacorp logo with no texture. 10. Nothing from the television series. Nothing from any film. AND NOT THIS, SPECIFIC TO THIS TASK: a hooded figure running down a neon alley. A generic city map with no decisions marked on it. A videogame minimap or HUD. A briefcase handcuffed to a wrist. THE DEEP CUTS, OPTIONAL, PICK YOUR OWN: electrode headgear and never an implanted socket - cyberspace as geometry, lines of light, clusters and constellations, never falling code - a bartender with metal teeth - recorded senses sold like a soap opera, somebody else's afternoon bought and watched - the police force whose job is stopping machines getting too clever, badges and clipboards against the future - dub, sound systems and patchwork engineering, the warm communal corner and the only hopeful place in that world - teenage media-terrorists who work by misdirection and illusion rather than force - baroque decay inside a spinning cylinder, ornate and gothic and rotting against cold geometry - contempt for the body as the meat - ice, and the things that break it. Nothing here is compulsory and nothing is explained on the piece. Anything that needs a caption to be spotted has failed. One well-hidden reference beats five signposted ones, and a piece that is a checklist of references scores worse than a piece with none. JUDGED, in this order: does it stop you, then is it that world, then surprise, then craft. The obvious take caps the score. The boldest true take wins.
