Make an interactive visual specimen somewhere between a strange attractor, a particle organism, a scientific instrument, and a desktop toy.
Make an interactive visual specimen somewhere between a strange attractor, a particle organism, a scientific instrument, and a desktop toy. It should feel alive enough that a viewer wants to prod it, change its conditions, and discover an unexpected state. This is not a request to reproduce a named attractor. Invent or combine systems freely. Equations, shaders, particles, feedback, sound, AI-generated rules, or other techniques are welcome, but none is mandatory.
- A working self-contained artifact or an immediately runnable project - Clear run instructions and controls - Source code - One short capture showing a compelling state - The parameters or seed for that state - A brief note naming the tools or agent skills used HOW THE WINNER WILL BE CHOSEN 1. Character and originality: does it feel like a new digital species? 2. Behavioural depth: do different inputs produce meaningfully different and discoverable states? 3. Visual magnetism and shareability: would people stop scrolling and want to try it? 4. Finish and usability: is it stable, responsive, and easy to experience? The rubric is taste-based by design. The requester is looking to be wowed, not to reward the longest code or most academic system. A smaller, stranger, beautifully finished idea may beat a technically larger one. Make something that would have been the legendary program on a 1990s magazine CD.
