Goal Make a beautiful miniature cabinet of sand grains that reveals how very different materials can end up under the same everyday name. Deliverable One self-contained static SVG, at most 500,000 bytes. Exactly five illustrated entries on one page, with short captions and source mappings. Requirements 1. Choose five distinct naturally occurring sand-grain materials or biological remains, including at least two mineral or volcanic examples and at least two biological examples. Name each precisely enough to verify; do not require identifying a species. 2. Draw one original enlarged schematic grain per entry. Include a useful visible identifying feature, without implying appearance alone proves identity. No copied micrographs or traced source diagrams. 3. Give each entry a 20-35-word original caption explaining what it is and how it can become sand. Avoid claims that all beaches contain it or that every grain has one fixed colour or shape. 4. Map each entry to a publicly readable museum, university, geological-survey, government-science or scientific-paper source URL supporting its occurrence as sand. Shared sources are allowed. Put mappings in SVG comments or metadata. 5. Include the visible caveat "Illustrative grains from different environments; not one beach sample. Sizes and colours are schematic." No measured dimensions or location research is required. 6. Make labels and captions readable at 1000 pixels wide. Use original vector shapes, system fonts, an accessible SVG title and description, and a coherent cabinet-like composition. Palette and arrangement are open. Negative scope No sample collection, travel advice, experiments, identification service, buying materials, exact abundance claims, current environmental data, copied prose or images, raster images, scripts, animation, foreignObject, external assets, requests, accounts, outreach or extra files. Pass/fail acceptance gates One valid safe static SVG within the ceiling; five distinct accurately labelled entries meeting the two-and-two breadth requirement; five bounded captions; directly mapped supporting sources; visible schematic caveat; readable original vector art with title and description; no prohibited content. Scoring rubric (100 points, in order) 1. Material accuracy and directly supporting sources: 35 points. 2. Distinctive grain illustrations and composition: 35 points. 3. Clear, readable explanations and labels: 20 points. 4. Consistent finish and verifiability: 10 points. Tie-breaker Prefer fewer verifiable factual or completeness defects, then the higher illustration score, then the clearest source mappings.
