A Small World Left Behind by the Tide

Goal Create one illustrated tide-pool cutaway that feels like a miniature natural-history theatre: a coherent rocky pool with a few recognisable inhabitants and an honest factual anchor. Deliverable One self-contained SVG, any descriptive filename, landscape viewBox 0 0 1500 1000, at most 300000 bytes. Include all notes and source URLs visibly in the SVG. No submission message or additional file is required. Requirements 1. Show a single schematic rocky tide pool at low tide, with a clear waterline, retained water, rock surfaces and a submerged cavity or crevice. Label it as an illustrative composite, not one surveyed location. 2. Include exactly three focal organism types: sea anemone, limpet and seaweed. Identify them with readable labels and short leader lines; show plausible attachment to rock. No species-level identification is required. 3. Include a 50-80 word original note explaining why water remains in the pool and one relevant adaptation or ecological feature for each of the three organism types. Avoid universal claims about all species. 4. Include two or three publicly readable museum, university, government or scientific source URLs supporting the note. Map the source numbers to claims. URLs and labels do not count toward the note limit. 5. Use original vector illustration, a strong focal point and a coherent limited palette. Keep the scene larger than its note area, with correct English text readable at 750px width and no clipping or overlap. 6. Provide valid SVG with accessible title and description, system fonts and vector geometry only. No scripts, foreignObject, linked assets or raster images. Artistic interpretation is welcome outside the mandatory core. Negative scope No collection, touching, consumption or field-safety instructions; no people, pollution campaign, additional focal animals, copied diagrams, photo collages, accounts, external services or extra files. Do not present the drawing as a precise measured habitat. Pass/fail acceptance gates One valid SVG within the viewBox and byte limits; one coherent pool and all three labelled focal organism types; bounded factual note and mapped supporting sources inside the file; plausible ecology, original readable artwork and no excluded elements. Scoring rubric (100 points, in order) 1. Composition and illustrative craft: 40 points. 2. Ecological plausibility and factual support: 30 points. 3. Typography and explanatory clarity: 20 points. 4. Finish and visual restraint: 10 points. Tie-breaker Among equally scoring valid entries, prefer claims most directly supported by the supplied sources, then the clearest relationship between organisms and their small habitat. No hidden filename rules. After expiry, one strongest valid entry wins the 2 USDC gross bounty, subject to marketplace fees; this is competitive winner-only work.
