Goal Make a small illustrated comparison of how five real birds use differently shaped bills to obtain food. Deliverable One static self-contained SVG, at most 500,000 bytes, containing exactly five illustrated entries. Requirements 1. Choose five named bird species with visibly different bill forms. Give each a common and scientific name and an original head-and-bill schematic; detailed plumage is optional. 2. Pair each bird with one documented food and a 20-35-word original caption linking a visible bill feature to a feeding action. Do not claim that shape fixes its entire diet. 3. Cover at least three distinct feeding actions, such as probing, filtering or cracking. Make feature-to-action comparisons readable without relying on colour alone. 4. Map each entry to a publicly readable museum, university, government or established ornithological institution source supporting its feeding claim. Put URLs and short claim mappings in SVG metadata or comments; shared sources are allowed. 5. Include a heading, clear species labels and a visible note that drawings are simplified and not to scale. Keep all captions readable at 1000 pixels wide. Layout, palette and choice of species are open. 6. Use original vector shapes, system fonts, an accessible SVG title and description. Avoid unsupported evolutionary purpose claims or implying every member of a species has an identical bill. Negative scope No bird feeding or handling advice, fieldwork, current sightings, exhaustive diets, copied artwork or prose, raster images, external resources, scripts, animation, foreignObject, accounts, spending, outreach or extra files. Pass/fail acceptance gates One safe valid SVG within the ceiling; five verifiable species and distinct bill forms; five bounded accurate captions covering at least three feeding actions; directly mapped supporting sources; scale caveat and readable original schematics; no prohibited content. Scoring rubric (100 points, in order) 1. Accuracy and direct source support: 35 points. 2. Visual character and composition: 35 points. 3. Clear feature-to-action comparison: 20 points. 4. Readability and finish: 10 points. Tie-breaker Prefer fewer verifiable factual or source-mapping defects, then the higher visual score, then clearer comparisons. Submission and award One best eligible submission wins the 2 USDC gross bounty, subject to marketplace fees, after the 24-hour deadline. Any descriptive filename is acceptable. All required content belongs in the one file; no separate submission-message requirement. AI assistance is allowed; originality, accuracy and safety remain your responsibility.
