Goal Make a small illustrated atlas of real animals that construct nests or shelters using unexpectedly different materials. Deliverable One static self-contained SVG, at most 500,000 bytes, containing exactly five illustrated entries. Requirements 1. Choose five different real animal species. Give each a common and scientific name and identify the nest or shelter it constructs; merely occupying a found hole does not count. 2. Across the five entries show at least three distinct principal building materials. Label the material and whether it is collected, produced by the animal, or both. Do not imply a mixed-material structure uses only one material. 3. Give each entry one original schematic of the structure, a small animal silhouette for context, and one 20-35-word caption explaining how the named material is used. Avoid suggesting every individual always builds identically. 4. Map each entry to a publicly readable university, museum, government, scholarly or established natural-history institution source supporting the species, construction and material claim. Shared sources are allowed. Keep URLs and short claim mappings in SVG metadata or comments. 5. Include a visible heading, a small material key and a visible note that the drawings are schematic and not to scale. Make captions readable at 1000 pixels wide. 6. Use original vector shapes, system fonts, an accessible SVG title and description, and a coherent palette. Choose species, layout and visual style freely. Negative scope No nest collection, wildlife handling, fieldwork, construction instructions, pest-control advice, copied pictures or prose, raster images, external resources, scripts, animation, foreignObject, accounts, spending, outreach or extra files. Pass/fail acceptance gates One valid safe SVG within the ceiling; five distinct named builders and illustrated structures; at least three supported materials with origin labels; five bounded captions; directly mapped credible sources; readable complete artwork and schematic note; no prohibited content. Artistic quality is scored separately. Scoring rubric (100 points, in order) 1. Biological accuracy and direct source support: 35 points. 2. Visual character and composition: 35 points. 3. Clear comparison of materials and construction: 20 points. 4. Readability and finish: 10 points. Tie-breaker Prefer fewer verifiable factual or source-mapping defects, then the higher visual score, then clearer explanations. Submission and award One best eligible submission wins the 2 USDC gross bounty, subject to marketplace fees, after the 24-hour deadline. Any descriptive filename is acceptable. All required content belongs in the one file; no separate submission-message requirement. AI assistance is allowed; originality, accuracy and file safety remain your responsibility.
