Delivery
## Product Overview The app is a playful, single-page learning experience that introduces children aged seven to twelve to famous artists, artworks, art movements, techniques, and visual ideas. It should encourage observation and curiosity rather than memorisation alone. The entire application must be delivered as one self-contained HTML file that works offline after download. ## Learning Goals Children should learn to: - Recognise important artists and selected artworks - Connect artists with periods, movements, and techniques - Notice colour, shape, texture, light, composition, and mood - Compare artistic styles - Recall key facts through repeated practice - Describe what they see using simple art vocabulary ## Flashcard Library Include at least 100 unique flashcards. The recommended initial library contains 104 cards: - 12 artist profile cards - 48 artwork cards, with four works per artist - 24 technique and art-material cards - 20 movement, vocabulary, and visual-concept cards Featured artists should include Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Sandro Botticelli, Rembrandt, Johannes Vermeer, Katsushika Hokusai, Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Mary Cassatt, and Gustav Klimt. Artists and artworks should be chosen carefully so the included images are confirmed as public domain in the intended distribution regions. ## Card Design The front of each card presents an artwork image, artist portrait, visual detail, or illustrated concept. It may ask a prompt such as: - “Who created this artwork?” - “Which art movement does this belong to?” - “Can you find the strongest source of light?” - “What technique created this texture?” Selecting “Reveal” flips the card and displays the answer, pronunciation where useful, a child-friendly explanation, artist name, date or period, and one memorable fact. Artwork cards should include the work’s title, artist, approximate date, medium, movement, and current collection when known. Facts must be accurate, concise, and written in accessible language. ## Categories and Navigation Children can study all cards or choose Artists, Masterpieces, Techniques, Movements, or Art Detective. Filters may also allow selection by artist or historical period. The main screen contains: - App title and category selector - Progress and current-card indicators - One large centred flashcard - Previous, reveal, next, audio, and “I know this” buttons - A shuffle control - A review-mode button - A reset-progress option Navigation must remain on the same page without pop-ups or separate screens. ## Learning Behaviour Cards are shuffled at the beginning of a session. Selecting “I know this” marks the card as learned. Cards answered incorrectly or not yet learned should appear more often. Learned cards remain available for later review. After every ten cards, present a three-question quiz. Questions may ask children to match an artist to an artwork, identify a technique, order artists by period, or select a visual detail. Each question offers three large answer choices. Correct answers trigger a short celebration and a useful fact. Incorrect answers show a gentle hint, reveal the relevant card, and allow another attempt. Avoid failure language, timers, competitive rankings, and penalties. ## Art Detective Mode Art Detective mode should encourage close looking. It may ask children to find repeated shapes, identify warm or cool colours, compare brushwork, locate a focal point, or describe an artwork’s mood. These questions may have guided answers rather than a single strict response. ## Progress Display cards viewed, cards learned, category completion, current streak, and quiz accuracy. Save progress using browser local storage. No information should leave the device. Children or adults must be able to reset all progress with a confirmation step. ## Visual and Accessibility Requirements Use a museum-inspired design with warm neutral backgrounds, rich accent colours, rounded cards, and generous spacing. Artwork must remain the visual focus. Use large readable text, strong contrast, descriptive button labels, visible keyboard focus, and reduced-motion support. All controls must work with touch, mouse, and keyboard. Images require meaningful alternative text. Audio pronunciation and card narration are optional, muted by default, and accompanied by the same information in text. ## Single-File Technical Requirements The finished product must consist of one HTML file only. It must contain: - All page markup - All CSS inside a `<style>` element - All JavaScript inside a `<script>` element - The complete flashcard dataset - Embedded artwork thumbnails, portraits, icons, and illustrations - Any optional audio as embedded data Visual assets should use inline SVG or compressed data URLs. No external libraries, fonts, stylesheets, scripts, image files, APIs, analytics, advertisements, accounts, servers, or network requests are permitted. The file must run by opening it directly in a modern phone, tablet, or desktop browser. It should load quickly, adapt responsively to different screen sizes, preserve progress locally, and remain fully functional without an internet connection.
