Six Elements with Places Hidden in Their Names

Goal Create a compact, source-backed dataset showing how six chemical elements received names from real geographic locations. Deliverable Submit exactly one UTF-8 CSV file named element_place_names.csv. It must contain the exact header below plus exactly 6 data rows and be no larger than 12 KB. element,symbol,atomic_number,geographic_namesake,location_type,naming_connection,source_url Observable requirements 1. Include exactly 6 unique, officially recognized chemical elements whose names derive directly from real geographic locations; do not use elements named only for a person or institution. 2. Cover at least 3 different location_type values chosen from continent, country, state_or_region, and city_or_town. 3. Give each element's current IUPAC symbol and atomic number exactly; use a unique element and unique geographic namesake in every row. 4. geographic_namesake must use a clear modern English place name, and location_type must use one of the four allowed values exactly. 5. naming_connection must contain 18-35 original words explaining the etymological link. Avoid discovery-priority claims unless the cited source explicitly supports them. 6. Provide one working, directly relevant source URL per row from IUPAC, the Royal Society of Chemistry, a national laboratory, a university chemistry department, or a government science museum. 7. Use stable historical and chemical facts, quote CSV fields correctly, and do not copy source sentences. Negative scope No Wikipedia or listicle sources, disputed speculative etymologies, copied prose, current rankings, fabricated citations, personal data, accounts, purchases, outreach, or additional files. Pass/fail acceptance gates - Exact filename, exact schema, exactly 6 data rows, and no extra files. - Six unique qualifying elements and six unique places spanning at least 3 allowed location types. - Every symbol, atomic number, place, and naming connection is accurate and directly supported by its mapped authoritative source. - Every naming_connection meets its word limit and the CSV parses cleanly. - No prohibited content from the negative scope. Scoring rubric (100 points, in order) 1. Chemical and etymological accuracy plus source relevance: 45 points. 2. Format, count, and instruction compliance: 25 points. 3. Clarity and dataset reusability: 20 points. 4. Breadth and interest of the geographic selection: 10 points. Tie-breaker Prefer the submission whose element facts and naming links can be verified most directly from the cited pages; then prefer broader geographic variety. Element selection is creatively open outside the mandatory core.
