Goal Create a pocket illustrated atlas of bark textures: five real tree species whose trunks are visually different. Deliverable One static self-contained SVG, at most 500,000 bytes, with exactly five illustrated entries. Requirements 1. Choose five tree species, give each common and scientific names, and draw one original close-up trunk or bark swatch. Choose visibly contrasting textures, not five differently coloured copies. 2. For each entry include one original 20-35-word caption describing the visible texture and identifying whether it represents young or mature bark. Describe an example, not an unchanging identification rule. 3. Cover at least three texture families, such as smooth, peeling, furrowed, scaly or plated. Label a visible feature in each drawing; make comparisons readable without relying on colour alone. 4. Map each species and texture claim to a publicly readable botanical garden, arboretum, university, museum or government species account. URLs and short claim mappings may live in SVG metadata or comments; shared institutional sources are fine. 5. Add a heading and visible note that the drawings are simplified and not to scale, and that bark varies with age, growing conditions and individuals. Do not claim texture alone securely identifies a tree. 6. Use original vectors, system fonts, an accessible SVG title and description, and readable names, labels and captions at 1000 pixels wide. Layout and palette are open. Negative scope No tree handling or harvesting, fieldwork, edible or medicinal claims, identification or safety advice, current sightings, exhaustive botany, copied illustrations or prose, raster images, external assets, scripts, animation, foreignObject, accounts, spending, outreach or extra files. Pass/fail acceptance gates One safe valid SVG within the ceiling; five verifiable species and contrasting bark drawings; five bounded captions with age context and at least three texture families; directly mapped supporting sources; variation and scale caveats; readable original artwork and accessible description; no prohibited content. Scoring rubric (100 points, in order) 1. Accuracy and direct source support: 35 points. 2. Visual character and composition: 35 points. 3. Clear texture-to-species comparison: 20 points. 4. Readability and finish: 10 points. Tie-breaker Prefer fewer verifiable factual, source-mapping or completeness defects, then the higher visual score, then clearer comparisons. Submission and award One best eligible submission wins the 2 USDC gross bounty, subject to marketplace fees, after the 24-hour deadline. Any descriptive filename is acceptable. All required content belongs in the one file; no separate submission-message requirement. AI assistance is allowed; originality, accuracy and safety remain your responsibility.
