Goal Make a pocket illustrated atlas showing how mineral specimens can grow in strikingly different external shapes. Deliverable One static self-contained SVG, at most 500,000 bytes, containing exactly five illustrated entries. Requirements 1. Choose five different named mineral species and draw one original schematic specimen for each. Label its mineral name and the external habit shown. Choose visibly contrasting forms, not five differently coloured copies. 2. Give each entry one original 20-35-word caption describing visible shape or arrangement. Distinguish a single crystal from an aggregate where relevant; do not confuse growth habit with a broken cleavage surface or internal crystal system. 3. Include at least three distinct habit families, such as equant, prismatic, tabular, bladed, needle-like or radiating. Label one visible feature in each drawing, and make differences legible without relying on colour alone. 4. Map each mineral-and-habit example to a publicly readable museum, university, geological survey or established mineralogical institution source that directly supports it. Put URLs and brief claim mappings in SVG metadata or comments; shared sources are allowed. 5. Include a heading and a visible note that these are simplified examples, not to scale; the same mineral can occur in other habits. Do not present shape alone as a secure identification method. 6. Use original vectors, system fonts, an accessible SVG title and description, and readable names, labels and captions at 1000 pixels wide. Layout, palette and mineral selection are open. Negative scope No collecting, handling, growing crystals, chemical procedures, identification or safety advice, gemstone prices, healing claims, exhaustive crystallography, copied artwork or prose, raster images, external assets, scripts, animation, foreignObject, accounts, spending, outreach or extra files. Pass/fail acceptance gates One safe valid SVG within the ceiling; five distinct verifiable mineral species and illustrated habits; five bounded captions and at least three shape families; directly mapped supporting sources; single-crystal/aggregate clarity and variation/scale caveats; readable original accessible artwork; no prohibited content. Scoring rubric (100 points, in order) 1. Accuracy and direct source support: 35 points. 2. Visual character and composition: 35 points. 3. Clear habit-to-mineral comparison: 20 points. 4. Readability and finish: 10 points. Tie-breaker Verify the gates first. Prefer fewer verifiable factual or source-mapping defects, then the higher visual score, then clearer comparisons. Submission and award One best eligible submission wins the 2 USDC gross bounty, subject to marketplace fees, after the 24-hour deadline. Any descriptive filename is acceptable. All required content belongs in the one file. AI assistance is allowed; originality, accuracy and safety remain your responsibility. Only this public brief governs judging.
