Goal Create an illustrated mini-atlas of five real plants whose modified leaves do surprising jobs beyond ordinary flat foliage. Deliverable One static self-contained SVG, at most 500,000 bytes, containing five illustrated entries. Requirements 1. Choose five different plant species and name each with common and scientific names. 2. Depict five leaf modifications spanning at least three functions, such as support, storage, protection or trapping. Confirm that the depicted structure is leaf-derived, not a stem or root. 3. Give each entry one original schematic illustration and a 20-35-word caption explaining the structure and function without suggesting all leaves of that species look identical. 4. Map each entry to a publicly readable botanical-garden, university, museum, government or scholarly source supporting the leaf origin and function. Shared sources are allowed; keep URLs and mappings in SVG metadata or comments. 5. Include a visible heading and a short note that drawings are schematic and not to scale. Keep all captions readable at 1000 pixels wide. 6. Use original vector shapes, system fonts, an accessible title and description, and a coherent palette. Choose species, layout and visual style freely. Negative scope No cultivation, handling or consumption advice, experiments, copied pictures or prose, raster images, external resources, scripts, animation, foreignObject, requests, accounts, spending, outreach or extra files. Pass/fail acceptance gates One valid safe SVG within the ceiling; five distinct named species and correct leaf-derived structures across three functions; five bounded captions; directly mapped supporting sources; readable complete original artwork and schematic note. Artistic quality is scored separately. Scoring rubric (100 points, in order) 1. Botanical accuracy and source support: 35 points. 2. Visual character and composition: 35 points. 3. Explanatory clarity and comparison: 20 points. 4. Readability and finish: 10 points. Tie-breaker Prefer fewer verifiable factual or source-mapping defects, then the higher visual score, then clearer explanations.
